You are the sum of the five people you follow

I’m sure you heard this many times, the five people you spend the most time with are the people that have a deep impact on you. There are different versions of this story, most of them having to do with your close friends. But I believe your friends don’t have the same impact on you as the people you idolize.

You see people you idolize, I mean successful people (at least in your point of view) you follow on TV, Facebook, Twitter etc. In today’s world you’re more connected to your phone and computer then the people around you. Therefore, the people you follow have a much deeper impact on you.

So is that good or bad?

Depends, if you’re following successful business people, coaches or our generations greatest thinkers, You’re doing fine. On the other hand, if you’re following the jackass crew, your life might not turn out that well. Don’t get me wrong, I’m a jackass fan myself,  but I would not consider them role models.

 So who should you follow?

Only you can know that. What do you plan to do with your life? Do you like fashion, Business, Science etc. Find leaders in the fields you wish to excel at. Start following their work, their achievements. Read their books, Watch their interviews. Get as much information as you can on them.

And most importantly: start now! if you don’t start something 24 hours after you learn about it, you probably won’t do it.
