The customer is not always right

Any good business man should know his limitations. These limitations help you determine what you are or aren’t going to do. Things that seem straight forward might not be that simple for your business structure.

For example computer repair.

There will always be things you can do in a lab that you can’t do at the client’s location. you can’t take all the spare parts and check every one of them on the spot. If you want to check the operation system you need another hard drive to try a clean install.

Business is a compromise, finding the best fit for you and your customers. And sadly sometimes there will not be a good fit. Sometimes the customer’s request will not be profitable. Notice I didn’t day doable but profitable.

A common mistake small businesses make is that they try to satisfy the customer no matter what he asks for. Know your limits. Know what is profitable and what is not. And think of your business first. One crazy request will not hurt your business, but when it becomes tens or hundreds it will destroy you.
