It’s always the same story. A kid starts up a business and wants to become a millionaire within a year. In the process he keeps putting so much money into the business that anyone who is a little observant will tell you it just doesn’t make any sense. If he’s not able to bring in work he lost all that money and got into a mountain of debt. If he is able to bring in work it’s too fast and he’s not able to deal with it. Either way, it’s a zero-sum game.
The reason you can’t grow too fast is that you don’t have time to oil the machine. To run a business is to know exactly how much a client costs you. What is needed to bring in a client, how to take care of him and how to make sure he returns. Always keeping in mind that you need to be able to get more referrals from him. It’s a lot to learn and it’s going to take some time.
Trying to grow a business too fast is like trying to lose 20 pounds overnight. It’s going to make you and your business sick, and no good will ever come of it.
Take your time, learn as much as you can as you go. And make sure your foundations are solid.
