Does somebody else believe in you more than you believe in yourself?

We’ve all been there. We start in a new position, and we’re scared to death that we’re not good enough to do the job. That’s completely normal, but sometimes that feeling just won’t go away. Sometimes that feeling makes you quite a good thing just because you’re second-guessing yourself. So what can you do about it?

There are a few things you can test to find out if you’re in the right place or not. Sometimes that feeling could save you from making a big mistake. Let’s start with your goals. If your goal is to make $5,000 a month and you see other people doing it, you have your answer. Now that you know it can be done you have to find out how you can get there.

It’s the same if your goal is to help people, get recognition or anything else. Find out if someone is doing it, learn what they are doing, copy them and you’re there. The problem starts when your position doesn’t let you get to where you want to go. If the numbers don’t make sense and no one is getting to your goal you know that you’re wasting your time.

In the end that someone who “believes” in you might just be taking advantage of you. So as flattering as it might be, run the numbers. If it’s not possible, get out of there.
